How does Fibroblast Skin Tightening work?

Fibroblast skin tightening is the only cosmetic treatment is the world to utilise plasma to reduce excess skin.   During a fibroblast tightening procedure, a pen-like device is held above the skin and uses the voltage between the air and its metal tip, to create a precise, miniature electrical discharge or plasma flash on the skin's surface.   The skin around the plasma flash tightens instantly, pulling the cells closer together to provide an immediate visible lift.   In the 8 to 12 weeks following your treatment, the micro-trauma caused by the plasma flash will continue to stimulate new collagen, releasing and activating essential proteins and growths factors that will lift, tighten and rejuvenate fines lines, wrinkles and excess skin.      The term "soft surgery" is often used to describe this treatment because it is known to physically reduce the volume of skin in the treated area, without a scalpel, stitch or bandage. How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments required varies from person to person. You'll be provided with a tailored treatment plan during your complimentary consultation.  You can expect to see an improvement after your first session, however, we recommend between 1 and three treatments, every 8 - 12 weeks for best results.   Optimal results will be visible 12 weeks after your final treatment.

What's involved and what can I expect post treatment?

After a thorough consultation, your treatment area will be numbed using a topical anaesthetic.  Once sufficiently numb, the plasma device will be used to create a pattern of tiny brown dots (plasma flashes) on your skin.   Immediately after treatment, your skin will have multiple plasma flash crusts, and the treated area may be red, itchy and swollen. Swelling varies from person to person but may last up to 5 days post-treatment.  The brown crusts will begin to flake between day 3 and 5, for up to 14 days. Mild redness and hyper-pigmentation may occur for up to 4 weeks following treatment, however, this can generally be covered with mineral powder or foundation.  Skin tightening results may be visible immediately and will continue to improve over the following 8 - 12 weeks. Final results will be visible at 12 weeks post treatment.  Each treatment takes between 60 minutes and 4 hours, depending on the size and number of areas being treated.

Are the results permanent?

Fibroblast skin tightening is considered semi-permanent. Depending on the area's you have treated, you can expect the results to last between 2 and 5 years.    Fibroblast skin tightening reduces excess skin; however, it does not stop the ageing process. A maintenance session may be required every 18 - 36 months, to maintain optimum results.
